Guy, I tried this on my system (V5R2, Excel 2003): create table lg/guy (datefield date not null, alphafield char(3) not null) insert into lg/guy (datefield, alphafield) values('12/12/2005','One') insert into lg/guy (datefield, alphafield) values('12/31/2005','Two') select * from lg/guy ....+....1....+....2.. DATEFIELD ALPHAFIELD 2005-12-12 One 2005-12-31 Two Excel -> Transfer data from iSeries New transfer request File: lg/guy Format options: Date format: (USA) USA Standard DATEFIELD ALPHAFIELD 12/12/2005 One 12/31/2005 Two You can go into cells C2 & C3 with the formulas: =DAY(A2) =DAY(A3) Yields the results 12 and 31, respectively. Highlighting A3 (12/31/2005) and dragging down yields DATEFIELD ALPHAFIELD 12/12/2005 One 12 12/31/2005 Two 31 12/31/2006 12/31/2007 12/31/2008 12/31/2009 Date fields work fine here. I think you should change the date format during the data transfer as above. At the moment, I'm having to do Format -> Cell in Excel to get it to recognise them as dates.
