I love Domino, but it's definitely not cheap or simple to get into. If you
have needs above and beyond basic email (calendar, scheduling,
collaboration, workflow apps, agents, replication, etc.), I don't think
Exchange even begins to compare as a 'solution' for any size company.

Out of curiosity, what is it about Domino that you do not like? We have
started to compare Domino/Notes to Exchange (I detest the constant
issues that seem to occur with Exchange) and your feedback would be
appreciated.

Personally I would recommend against it.
I've never really liked email on the iSeries ... and I truly do not like
Domino (in general).
I would suggest you take a bare bones machine and install your favorite
Linux distro on it and set that up as your mail server.
There are a number of very powerful smtp, pop3, imap, and webmail
servers available.
