I love Domino, but it's definitely not cheap or simple to get into. If you have needs above and beyond basic email (calendar, scheduling, collaboration, workflow apps, agents, replication, etc.), I don't think Exchange even begins to compare as a 'solution' for any size company. We have started to compare Domino/Notes to Exchange (I detest the constant issues that seem to occur with Exchange) and your feedback would be appreciated. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces+dpalme=cwtruck.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces+dpalme=cwtruck.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Gibbs Sent: Wednesday, November 09, 2005 4:04 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Email on the Iseries or not Pat Barber wrote: > If you are in favor on email on the Iseries...why ??? Personally I would recommend against it. I've never really liked email on the iSeries ... and I truly do not like Domino (in general). I would suggest you take a bare bones machine and install your favorite Linux distro on it and set that up as your mail server. There are a number of very powerful smtp, pop3, imap, and webmail servers available. david -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. _____________________________________________________________________________ Scanned by IBM Email Security Management Services powered by MessageLabs.
