The more things change the more they stay the same!! On my very first 
OS/400 upgrade from V1R1 to V1R2 we failed on a tape error. The guys at 
IBM had us try cleaning the drive etc but no go.  Finally they said 
they'd send us another set of tapes. I asked if we could use tapes from 
another AS/400 (we had two at that site).  A rousing YES came from the 
phone. We loaded it and were on our way!

I'm glad you were able to get the upgrade complete!
