What they might have been thinking about is the Save access paths. Use *NO
and it definitely speeds the save, but the trade off is it slows the
restore. So for what you are doing this might be OK ?

Subject: SAVLIB and UPDHST(*NO) ... is it faster?

Hi guys!

I am in a project were backup speed is crucial. I am doing SAVLIB over 27
libraries but one of the guys here told me that if I change the parameter
UPDHST to be *NO, it will increase the backup speed dramatically. I am
doing a regular backup of the libraries on tape every single day and this
backup event is for one shot only, so I was wondering if I can give it a
try...

Any pros/cons/comments on this?

TIA,

Peter
