router, and Linksys PCMCIA card.   I am connected via VPN to our
corporate network using a Cisco VPN concentrator and desktop software.
This will stay up all day, idle or not.  Check the setting on your
router and the firmware release.  I have the latest firmware on my
router  and the latest driver on the laptop.
