If I understand the process correctly, our network doesn't require an IP address on each PC-- there's a network thingamajig that accepts the NAME of the computer (ie the iSeries) and 'knows' that the IP address is 1.2.3.4. I'm not sure if that's DNS or something else.
The main requirement is that each PC points to the NAME, not the IP address. Then, it's a 'simple' matter to change the master entry at the network level, and the IP address of the iSeries, and everything changes at once.
