We had exactly the same problem with our AS400's and Unix systems. As I
understand it, email from our servers used to arrive as being from
<sender>@<our_hostname>.pactiv.com. The recipients would do a reverse
lookup, and throw away the email (in this case, a page) since the reverse
lookup failed.

On the AS400's we had to do exactly what Scott said for each sender. For
the UNIX systems, we had to change the 'masquarade' parameter in our mail
config file. So all email now arrives as being from <sender>@pactiv.com.

You may have to route your iSeries email through your company's regular
email router to solve the first problem.

The second is changed under WRKDIRE. Find the profile that is sending
the email, take the option to change, then F19 to Change name for SMTP.

   subject: e-mail from AS/400

   Hello All,

We are sending alert e-mail from our AS/400 to our cell phone. This
allow us to response to cycle and backup error. We now have an issue
where two of our operator are not getting the alert message. The first
two cell phone are with Cingular and the other two are Nextel. The
Cingular cell phone are getting the alert messages, but the Nextel are
not. We were thing that Nextel has put in a block that stop our e-mail
from going because we do not have an return e-mail setup on the AS/400,
   that I know of.
