(Posted to the list as well as private to Tim, in case he's off and
others can answer) Tim,

Found several references to your experience with the Ricoh printers,
specifically these links:
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200404/msg00229.html
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200304/msg00867.html

Why did you change the port number on the printer, instead of just
specifying the one that the printer had in your device description? Will
changing the port on the Ricoh affect anything already printing to it?
Our Ricoh displays the base port number as 10000. Will everything work
fine if the CRTDEVPRT uses PORT(10001)?

I am confused about the discussion where you adjust the PORT parameter
up by
1 from the port number defined on the printer:
> Plus we had one, with an odd port number, so I think I had to tell the

> 400, to listen one port higher, to get the feedback...

I checked out the following link that was provided in one of those
threads, but didn't find any reference to adjusting the port number the
way you did:
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/acf2ee1e9d64b16e8625680b0002038

ghlight=0,fiery#_Section3

Also, are you aware of pros/cons to doing it this way as opposed to just
setting up a remote outq? I know we lose PAGERANGE() capability with the
remote outq; perhaps there are other functions lost as well?

TIA,
Dan
