We had multiple problems mapping a drive recently on XP.

1.) If the prompt for the User Name is domain qualified (i.e. domain
name/User Name) remove the domain name. The clue here is that the
iSeries profile will not be getting disabled by invalid signon attempts.

2.) If the iSeries and Windows profiles match, then the passwords must
match also. I recommend all lower case, don't even try mixed case
passwords. (Mixed case passwords may work if your sysval QPWDLVL is 2.)

3.) Check the NetServer Domain name in iNav at your system > Network >
Servers > TCP/IP > iSeries NetServer > Properties. On ours this is our
Windows domain name.

subject: Problem mapping a drive

We have many customers that will assist with mapping their
drives, but we have encountered one customer that we cannot
get a drive mapped on their system

They are running Windows XP OS400 V5R2

When mapping a drive to a directory in the IFS the users
enter their iSeries User Id and Password

The screen re-appears and prompts for User Name and
password.

We have done a CHGUSRPRF to make sure the User profile is
not disabled

We have tried several different User profiles including
QSECOFR

We have checked the authorities on the IFS root (temporarily
set *PUBLIC Data Authority = *RWX Object Authority= *ALL)
not other Users

We have checked the authorities on the directory in the IFS
root (temporarily set *PUBLIC Data Authority = *RWX Object
Authority= *ALL) not other Users

We have stopped NetServer and restarted NetServer then check
messages in QSYSOPR to verify the NetServer Name was correct

We have attempted to map using the iSeries IP Address,
System Name (with and without leading Q), NetServer Name

Am I missing something, ANY suggestions would be greatly
appreciated

John
