ILE C: Method to Convert linked list to vector array

Dear Colleagues,

I am facing a problem in porting specific program to AS/400.
The origin program reads database to build the database in 
memory as a linked list.
(using a lot of malloc, calloc)
I need to change the logic  to simple vector array instead of linked list.
If someone experienced such a problem and can send me an example of
the changes, or a kind of algorithm for this, I shall appreciate it.
