If this is a CA printer session, you may need to tweak some of the settings
and use a WSCST. Have you looked here?

The Epson LX300 is an impact printer. In draft mode it doesn't impact as
much as normal mode. That is when the printer is not in draft mode it takes
about twice as long because it does each line of the printout twice before
line feeding to the next line.
The spread of the characters across the page looks correct it is just that
each character printed is much smaller, so there is extra space between
characters not at the side of the paper.

I'm not sure what 'Draft' mode is but with Client Access printing,
you have to make sure the size of the print file is exactly the width you
need. If you are getting a lot of white space to one side then this is
likely the problem. Adjust the pagesize of your print file. You can use an
OVRPRTF command in a calling CL.

Please excuse my ignorance in this subject.
We have a PC Basic program that takes some input numbers, does many
calculations and then prints out a table of numbers.
We rewrote the program in RPGLE and now have the ability to create the
tables on the iSeries.

Our problem is in controlling the printout. We have a spool file on the
iSeries that we redirect to the local PC printer which is an Epson LX300
impact printer. When it runs from the PC Basic program the user is able to
select draft mode on the printer and everything works fine. When we print
with a Client Access printer session to the same printer the printer
automatically switches out of draft mode and the characters are smaller.
The width of the table is the same but the individual characters are too
small to easily read.
We are printing from the same PC the difference being where the print file
is coming from (PC Basic program or iSeries spool file).

Can anyone give me some clues as to how to control the printing on the PC
connected printer?
