OS upgrade from an image catalog

Folks,

I'm working on doing a V5R1 to 5.2 upgrade from an image catalog, but I'm 
getting conflicting info from the upgrade manual sent out by IBM. One of 
the pages tells me that I need at least 1 GB of free space on the load 
source disk, and then 2 pages later, the manual say at least 4 GB. Which 
page is correct? I know that 4 GB is better, but this model 600 only has 4 
GB drives. The STRASPBAL parameters shown in the manual (*ENDALC and 
*MOVDTA) also don't match the parameters available to me.... :-((
