I've always just washed mine by hand in warm soapy water.  I remove all
the keys and disassemble it as much as possible.  Then, into the sink
with all of it, with the possible exception of the cable which could
trap moisture for a long time.  Let it dry out for several days
afterwords.  

I keep a spare around so I'm not down while waiting for it to dry.
