There is a defective ptf that has performance implications:

DEFECTIVE PTF(s): MF34708 and/or MF34884                    
LICENSED PROGRAM = 5722999                                  
APAR NUMBER: MA30914                                        
                                                                       
       
USERS AFFECTED: All i5/OS users with PTF(s) MF34708          
           and/or MF34884 applied.                      
REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying PTF MF34708 and/or          
             MF34884 users may experience              
              severe performance degradation.            
RECOMMENDATION: Remove PTF MF34708 and/or MF34884.          
               Apply the fixing PTF MF35014.
