What level of software are you running on the HMC?
We have not had to re-boot the HMC since it has been
running V4.4. The last time it did require an
unplanned re-boot was back at V4.3.2 - and that is an
HMC controlling 4 systems, total of 19 partitions.

I don't know about general consensus, but I know we
don't tolerate our p5's locking up - if they did, we
would replace them with something that doesn't lock
up. The unplanned downtime on both our p and i systems
are about the same - which is minimal.

Regards

Pat
