You don't have to leave IBM's fields in the same place on the screen-- they just have to be in the same order. We made a teensy-weensy signon screen for some handheld scanners that only have a screen abot 20 characters x 8 lines or so. We scrunched the entry-capable fields into the upper left corner of the screen, and everything works fine.

If I remember correctly, we even shrunk the text (ie "Enter Pswd"). I think it's the input fields that have to be in the same relative positions.

We also have a version of the signon screen for some uses with the entry fields on the LEFT of the screen instead of the RIGHT.
