Jeff, I don't see any problem w/windows update. The IBM code is mostly hardware related. Whereas most the Windows updates are software related. I suppose it's a question of risk. I know of a IxA attached Windows PC with automatic updating turned on. That particular server happens to serve a public extranet site. I'd rather take the chance of a conflict stopping the box than having a newly ID'd vulnerability not get patched as fast as possible. Just my .02.
