I would strongly urge you to restrict your printers to the models listed by
IBM
in their Support Knowledge Base
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/acf2ee1e9d64b16e8625680b00020389/b44a2cf4ba778d83862568250053649f?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,ascii,printers

for each printer listed, look for a "Y" in the PJL column, so you can define
as a local lan printer.
IMHO- would not support any printers that do not have a "Y" in PJL if you
want a clean operation.

Subject: Printer Control Issues

We are looking at replacing some twinax printers with Ethernet printers.
I think we will be losing some functionality. Is there a way to get the
AS/400 to recognize when the printer is out of paper, jammed or needs a
new form loaded?

thanks
