Stephen,

The windows version of db2 is unlikely to have any knowledge of the as400
operating system licensing. 5722ss1 is the operating system, os400, which
inludes the integrated database product.

You will need to get/purchase and apply a license to the PC version
presumably.

cheers

Subject: DB2 UDB connection failed

I have downloaded DB2 universal database to my windows 2000 PC. The plan
being to use it to connect my .NET applications to the as400 database.

http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/udb/

I am getting an error when I test the connection to the as400:

CLI connection failed.
SQL8002N Connect processing failed; a valid product license was not found.
SQLSTATE=42968

I have a valid license for v5r1, 5722ss1, 5050 on my system. But
apparantly, I need a license for something else.

I called the Boulder license key center and the friendly people there said
they can give me a temporary key, but they dont know which product I need to
be licensed to.

That is the question. What as400 product and feature is needed for DB2 to
be able to connect from the PC to the AS400?

thanks,

-Steve
