Yes, with internal DASD the disks are formatted with different sized blocks.

But it doesn't effect how the internal DASD can be allocated between OS/400, 
Windows, and Linux.

Don't know if an external SAN device would use 512, 520, or something else.  I 
don't believe it matters.
