I understand what you are saying,
but,
Have you ever successfully did this memory management and then got the
equivalent response?

RE: Opening XL files

You MUST configure the servers for Netserver to have a higher CPU
percentage
and carve out some memory for the jobs. Default configuration runs out of
*BASE and that just does not work unless you have heavy Netserver use. The
more you use it, the faster it becomes. Of course dedicating a CPU and
memory to the task with an IXS card solves this problem. But now if your
OS/400 CPU is tasked with lots of other duties, you should upgrade your
whole CPU, add memory, or got the IXS route.

The IFS is a pretty poor performer under OS/400. Now, using the same disk

drives and controllers, and carve out a portion of them to be used by an
IXS card running some sort of Windows; and you'll get a lot better
performance.
