At least two people have asked about, and been sent privately, the
schematics for the UPS monitor widgets I designed for our systems (to
block the low battery signal when the utility power is on, and to fake
"on-battery" signals for AS/400s without full monitoring cables.

I've posted the schematics to my own web site, at
    http://www.hb.quik.com/jamesl/UPSWidget.gif
for general perusal.

Some notes:

1. If the box is newer than, say, a 510, then you need to use a "removable
pins" DB9M connector, and omit the #3 pin, or it's not going to go into
the socket.

2. If the box is so old that it uses something other than a DB9 for the
UPS monitoring connection, you need to look up the pinouts for the current
version (in a current Physical Planning Reference), and for the old
version (in the Physical Planning Reference for the box in question), and
make appropriate changes.

And for each widget, you will need a small relay. You can power all the
relays from a common "wall wart," as long as the voltage matches the relay
coil voltage, and the current rating is sufficient to hold all of the
relays continuously.
