I can Ping the AS/400.
When I try to telnet, I get error 'Could not open connection to the host on
Port 23'
The box I am testing right now does not have XP SP2.
I have downloaded the latest Client Access Express Service Pack SI11806,
with no luck.

When I try the same things from a Windows ME machine I can Ping and telnet
with no problems.

Thanks,

Can they Ping the AS400?

Can they telnet to the AS400?

Are the XP boxes at SP2 with the firewall on?

For Client Access V5 R2 I had to download the latest client access fixes
from IBM to get them to work with XP without hanging

Subject: Client Access connecting via XP machines

Can anyone point me in the right direction to trouble shoot my problem?
I am trying to connect to an AS/400 running V5R1M0 with Client Access
Express v5.0 for Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000.
I am using a VPN connection to the local network which is working fine, but
on 2 computers running Windows XP (Home and Pro) my connection to the AS/400
times out. I can connect from other machines from the same remote locations
running Windows XP or ME.
As far as I know the installations of Client Access are the same. Are there
different settings on the XP machines that would effect the connection?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Bob Kohlndorfer
