The biggest problem I've seen with setting up an actual printer device like this instead of using a remote *OUTQ is that someone in the work area has to be trained to manage the printer (answer messages, etc). Even though it sounds easy enough to us, it has caused us all kinds of grief in my company... If you can adjust and live with the reduced functionally of Remote *OUTQ I'd do it if I was you ... That's my 2cents worth on this subject.... -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DeLong, Eric Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2005 10:17 AM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: Configuring Remote Out queues to print to multiple drawers Why do you want to use remote OutQ for a HP printer? I'd recommend making it an IP printer, which should provide full support for print overrides, and so forth. Remote OutQ does not support some features very well. Heres the config source for one of our old HP printers. You may have to change the model specific parms to match your printer... This is an HP with 2 drawers. We have tried the OVRPRTF with the DRAWER specified, but for some reason the printer always seems to use the same drawer irrespective of what we tell it to use. We had a similar issue when we tried to tell it to print multiple copies and we then found out that we had to set the DESTOPT parameter as per the IBM document below when we create the OUTQ http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&org=as400&doc=9F4B1D4D23C582F1 862565C2007D4471&loc=en-us What i am trying to find out is if i need to do something similar for the remote out queue to recognize the drawers Thanks Krish -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
