Funny you should mention ATM's. I was at an ATM a year or so ago and it
spontaneously rebooted when I was in mid-transaction. (It must have
noticed my account balance and went belly up trying to figure out where all
of my money had gone). Anyway, I sat there and watched it go through to
boot up cycle and noticed the OS/2 screen, which I wasn't expecting. It
took me about a week for them to send my card back. It might have been
solid but not impervious. Who knows, then again it might have just been a
hardware problem.

Glad to see there are others out there that recognize(d) the rock-solid
nature of OS/2 and building applications thereon. Windows vs. OS/2 is
somewhat like the VHS vs. Beta Max wars. VHS out marketed Sony, as
Micksoft did against IBM, but, unless things have changed lately,
BetaMax is what the commercial folks use. So it could have gone with
OS/2, and actually did at bank ATMs and other mission critical
applications where rock-solid was more important than show, except the
rug was pulled out from under all the application developers of those
applications by the OS manufacturer. Bottom line, the "show" usually
wins the consumer market place but the "go" can win if the manufacturer
is really serious and quality over show and cheap is still demanded by
SOME in the US.
