Hi All,

I am researching a best approach to our Back up system. Currently, it
is very slow & time consuming and if for any reason, we need to run it
again, it is quite simply disastrous.

We have a global setup and our files are constantly being used. But we
need to back them up for processing the day's work depending upon the
local time. Since we have an old system (sys36 files & env. including),
we send a global shut-down message, and terminate every other activity
and work on the backups and other processes. One, the back ups are done
with savobj which is not that efficient, second, the process refers to
files library/names since sys36 codes cannot work with more than one
libraries and so the whole thing takes a lot of time depending upon the
amount of the daily activity.

I am looking for better/best/optimum options/solutions, savlib with
savact or savchgobj etc. & trying to find out what you all have been
using and what problems you have encountered and so on. Typically, we
would like to make it quite seamless for the daily routine to continue
while the backups and processes are running in the background.

TIA,
Sudha
