Depends. If you have an override, that specifies SHARE(*YES) as a prelude to an OPNQRYF statement running in the default activation group, but you have a program that is not running in the default activation group reading that file, and your CFO gets invalid numbers from that report, well, you may wish that the sky was falling. Stupid example, I know. But you really should research this. Sounds like you are running RPG 4 programs, not ILE Programs. To take advantage of the true benifits of ILE, i.e. Modular design, service programs, binding directories, etc, etc, etc, you need to not run your programs in the default activation group. But this requires planning and research in understanding how activation groups work. Thanks, Mark Mark D. Before I start the crying the sky is falling at my shop I want to make sure that I have not been mislead. Based on the feedback I have heard spontaneous decapitation won't occur to ile programs in the default activaction group. I think caution might be the order of the day.
