Tim, Glad it works, still a kludge, and the results you're seeing with the output-only is not the intended design. I doubt it is the screen compiler, but more likely the emulation. The way to test that the problem does not lie with the screen compiler is to take the same program & display file objects that Scott quickly put together to test this and run it on your system. I would be happy to pack up a savefile for you to restore and run on your box if you'd like to try. Earlier you said that you were running iSeries Access v5r5. Maybe that's the problem - you're running an alpha-alpha version of a future Access release! <g> v5r5 sounds more like the Personal Communications (display emulator) application. Anyway, I strongly suggest that you check to see if you're current with service pack for whatever version of iSeries Access you're using. Replicating the problem on a 3477 terminal? Hmmm, now I wonder about the workstation controller. I mismember, but aren't there PTFs that affect the workstation controller? BTW, all you old folks pining for the good ole days of displaying hex attributes on the screen - yer really aging yourselves! <g,d,&r> hth, db > -----Original Message----- > From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx / Tim Kredlo > Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2004 6:05 PM > > Doug, > > I think you may be correct about the screen compiler. > If I change the display field from 'O'utput to 'B'oth it works > correctly!!! > > I don't see any downside other than 78 extra unnecessary characters being > returned to the RPG program as input. > > Thanks to all for suggestions and information. > > Tim Kredlo
