I like to set up the old and new systems with SNADS and just SNDNETSPLF between them. Create a profile to send to on the target box and change the output queue to the one you are sending from, send all the entries from that queue on the old box (just use option 1 against all the entries on a WRKOUTQ and use the comand line for TOUSRID((user_id newsysname)), and when received, change the user profile on the target system to specify the next output queue you are going to send, send those files, and so on through the output queues on the source system that you want to save reports from. Make sure you change the command default for SNDNETSPLF on the source system to DTAFMT(*ALLDATA) before sending. ...Neil "Condon, Mike" <M1C@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 2004/10/13 09:54 To "'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion'" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject RE: OS 400 upgrade What methods do you use to move/save spool files? -----Original Message----- From: MITTELHEISSER Jean Claude [mailto:MITTELJC@xxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2004 2:41 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: OS 400 upgrade Hello, I will have something similar to do soon : Migrate from a 820 in V4R5 to a 520 in V5R3 (of course). Does it mean I have to migrate my 820 first in V5R2 before saving and restoring on 520 ? Is there a simplier way in my case ? I thought I could simply start my 520, install LIC, OS/400 and LPPs, configure network and then restore CFG, PRF, *NONSYS, DLO,... from 820. This is new for V5R3, so you may want to read up on it. You are able to accept the license agreement(s) from there in advance and I didn't need to babysit that upgrade to press the F14-button to accept them on a one-by-one basis. There was a memo to users describing that process. HTH, Philipp >7 Install PTFs and go. > >It will be a long day.
