What methods do you use to move/save spool files?

Subject: RE: OS 400 upgrade

Hello,

I will have something similar to do soon : Migrate from a 820 in V4R5 to a
520 in V5R3 (of course). Does it mean I have to migrate my 820 first in V5R2
before saving and restoring on 520 ? Is there a simplier way in my case ? I
thought I could simply start my 520, install LIC, OS/400 and LPPs, configure
network and then restore CFG, PRF, *NONSYS, DLO,... from 820.

Thanks.

This is not quite true, the "required PTFs" that come on an extra
CD-ROM give you
a menu similar to those upgrade preparation menus when converting from
CISC-to-RISC.
You are able to accept the license agreement(s) from there in advance
and I didn't
need to babysit that upgrade to press the F14-button to accept them on a
one-by-one basis.
There was a memo to users describing that process.
