The previous message was incomplete. The simplest approach is to save to a savefile, on the AS/400, then save the savefile to tape during the day. Do you have enough empty disk space to accomplish this? The command would be SAVLIB LIB(libname) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(savefile) The save file will have to be created before you run this command. To copy the savefile to tape use SAVSAVFDTA SAVF(savefile) DEV(TAPxx) Steve Morrison Beacon Insurance 940-720-4672 -----Original Message----- From: Tom Jedrzejewicz [mailto:tomjedrz@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 12:31 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Tape backup strategy On Thu, 30 Sep 2004 10:09:53 -0500, rob@xxxxxxxxx <rob@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > To backup all your wintel servers and clients? I asked the question with the idea of backing up the AS/400 to this device at night, possibly duplicating over WAN/internet to another box, and spooling to tape during the day. The LPAR concept sounds good, although wouldn't I have to buy another license of OS/400 to do it? -- Tom Jedrzejewicz tomjedrz@xxxxxxxxx
