LOL - that is an AWESOME idea Dan ! Reminds me of a time long ago at my previous employer. We had a consultant in "teaching" a junior programmer and I think she actually knew more than he did. We had this program (that was rolling around the AS/400) that would let you interactively write to a 5250 screen. You had to specify a break handling program but that wasn't a problem since everyone in IS used a single INLPGM. We had various versions of this CL that wished folks happy birthday, etc. We also had on that "ate" the screen one character at a time or just ate the center. So we invoked this while he was teaching her and commented to her that it was "something atmospheric" ! And of course the next rendition crawled "A T M O S P H E R I C" across the screen ;-) Chuck -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dan Bale Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 8:16 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: is this a hint or what? Maybe IBM ought to display a message upon creating a new RPG (not RPGLE) member: "Are you nuts?!?!? Please drag yourself, loincloth and all, into the 21st century NOW!" Boy, the fun we could have monkeying with IBM's messages! db
