I have installed the Websphere Developer client for Java development, but
you'll have to pry SEU from my cold, dead hands for RPG and CL editing :-)

Richard,

I'm afraid you have missed 95% of why WSCDi is so powerful. If you believe
in it for Java, why not RPG? I can do everything and more with the LPEX
editor and RSE as I can with PDM, I don't have to be connected and best
yet, I can still use all those commands I am used to with SEU. For changes
involving less than 10 lines or a quick fix, nothing can beat SEU, but not
for full development anymore. Besides all of those arguments, why make
your employer spend so much money supporting your on line 5250 datastream
habit? WSCDi is completely batch to the machine. Granted, you need one
monster of a PC to run it, but then so does M$/Word.

Then again, folks on the open system side think VI is a great editor too.

I want my punch cards back. At least I could touch them, and they made
such a great pile when you dropped them. ... ;-) oops, I'm not supposed
to admit I actually used cards at one time... BTW, it seems to me we had
many of the same comments regarding the on line editor vs. cards back then.

Jim
