Tony, You will have to test the output with the different printer, especially switching between different vendors. Also be sure that you set up the printer emulation within the IPDS settings to emulate the same printers. We have a mixed bag of printers running IPDS from different vendors. Some documents print identically on different printers, some have acceptable differences, and some can only print acceptably on specific printers. IBM has some copyrighted fonts, at different CPI setting from anyone else. They work well, but they often lead to documents that must be printed on the IBM printers to print acceptably. Your best backup printer will be another IBM printer with IPDS capabilities. The invoice have an overlay on them.company logo and such. Every so often, the Infoprint errors out and we are delayed getting invoices out. My question is: Can I use a regular old HP 4100 with an IPDS chip (for example) as a backup printer to the Infoprint. In other words, will ANY printer with an IPDS chip in it print our invoices, with the overlay?
