The iSeries (known as 'Silverlake' at the time, or AS/400) was released in
Hong Kong on 8/8/88. I know, because I was working there at the time, and
attended the 'smoke and mirrors' announcement at the Hong Kong Sheraton.
What is interesting is that '8' is a lucky number in China. Those cars with
888 numberplates are probably being driven by Chinese people! So the AS/400
had a very good launch over there...

cheers,

Clare

Subject: The 666 mark

> The precise 666 reference is in Revelation 13:18 which reads:
>
> "This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate
> the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."
>
> The significance of the number 6 can be derived from the significance
> of the number 7. Biblical scholars view the number 7 as the number
> of "perfection" based on its usage in a variety of different contexts.
> Well known examples include the end of the creation account in
> Genesis 2:2-3 where God "blessed the seventh day and made it holy"
> and the Genesis 7:2-4 account of Noah which uses the number 7
> in positive ways. There are other good examples.

> a) Satan/the ancient serpent: the devil of Revelation 12:9
> b) the anti-Christ of Revelation 6:2,
> c) the Beast out of the Earth of Revelation 13:11
> who is marked 666 and who inspires people to worship
