RE: Media error while reloading Licensed Internal Code

I just found this - B900 3121  This SRC occurs when an IPL is attempted
after an installation failure. You need to reinstall some or all of the
operating system. Start with the media volume containing the base operating
system. (For optical media, this volume is labeled B29xx_01.) 
Then perform the appropriate procedure under Installation Recovery after
SRCs. 

I did load the B2924_01 CD and powered on the machine. The console started
showing the progress of the IPL but after about 10 minutes I get the same
SRC B900  3121  code

Maybe I need a new CD for V4R5 OS B2924

Anyone have any ideas where I can get a copy? If someone else has one can I
use theirs or do I need to get them from IBM?

Find your last full system save (SAVSYS) tape, and you should be able to
re-IPL and re-load from that tape... and that way, I believe you won't have
to re-apply all the LIC PTFs, either.

The Model 500 V4R5 was running fine before this was started and it is not a
production box so we can anything we need to, to get it up and running.



It was decided to replace the Licensed Internal Code using PWRDWNSYS
OPTION(*IMMED)  RESTART(*YES)  IPLSRC(D)

Everything was running fine, took the first CD (Licensed Internal Code)
asked for Next CD (OS400), loaded it and it, and it ran for awhile

Then we got "Media Error"  only option on the console was option to end so
we ended it.



Now we have SRC900 3121 and we cannot use the front panel to select the IPL
Source (only displays option 1 and option 4)

The white power button does not do anything, as last chance effort we loaded
the Licensed Internal Code and unplugged the machine. After it powered down
we plug it back in

and it runs for a bit then we get the same SRC Code B900 3121

I have searched the archives and the IBM site for this SRC code without any
luck.

All we want to do at this point is restart the reload of the licensed
internal code and OS400

There is nothing on the machine we need.



Any suggestions on getting this restarted?
