FTP and ethernet are not up to the "safe" and "dependable" factor of 
SDLC/SNA?

This reminds me of my Systems Analysis textbook that told me to shy away 
from newfangled languages, like RPG, because they might be just a flash in 
the pan.  And that was already in the early 80's.

Since all the new "I" boxes come standard with a
2 line SDLC card, I don't the handwriting is quite
as clear as you would think.

FTP and ethernet are really sporty but they are not
up to the "safe" and "dependable" factor of SDLC/SNA.

I wouldn't plan on seeing the end of that anytime soon.

Ethernet is just another way to get there, not the only
way.

The "cheap way" is not always the "best way".
