But my point was, your denial only works if they use your FTP client.  Any
other client gets around that.  You may consider that a marketing plus for
your product.  But unless they have keystroke monitoring software what's to
stop them from using any other client?

Denying access to files and directories is security.

Making the files and directories to which one is denied access invisible
is mainly clutter-abatement.
