It's been a long time since I tilted with a windmill, so I guess that's my best answer to what brought this up. I just filled out and submitted one of those "Request for Design Change" forms and thought since it's the season for campaigning, I'd see if there's any support for this issue. Here's a "cut/paste" from the "Description of Request" section. The current information provided for Status on the ?Work with PTF Groups? display is only helpful on a stable system. I find it awkward to try to make sure to print the information before ordering maintenance because as soon as I order maintenance the status goes to ?Not installed?. That really makes little or no sense to me, because merely by ordering a new PTF Group I don?t think I have done anything to make my current production system change the critical support information. (The way I look at it-- if I have a problem and call Support Line, it?s much more appropriate if I can do a GO PTF, Option 12 and hit ?Enter? and tell them the Level I am currently running. ?Not installed? isn?t very helpful in that situation.) Much more meaningful to me would be: (a) the date that the current, active Group was installed; (b) a second set of columns indicating the date and level of the ?ON ORDER? Group; (c) as I go through the maintenance procedures the status information should let me know what the status is?i.e., ?Waiting IPL? after I do the GO PTF and select Option 8 and ?N? for Automatic IPL would be meaningful. ?Back in the old days?, didn?t the DSPDTAARA command include dates? I forget. Okay, I feel *much* better now!
