Are you sure that the Netgear device supports that protocol? Is port 515 open on the Netgear box? Perhaps it's using PJL (the HP protocol commonly used by JetDirect cards) PJL is a completely different protocol from LPR/LPD, and runs on port 9100 Since it's completely different, you won't be able to configure it with CRTOUTQ, you have to use CRTDEVPRT instead specifying a device class of *LAN, Lan Attachment *IP, and port 9100. > I have tried setting up the outq with *HP4000, *HP4, and *HP5SI. So, I am wondering. What is the trick to Hmmm... that's strange, when I went to that page Netgear WAS in fact listed. But anyway, I would expect that the problem is communications rather than how the data gets converted to ASCII. If you start getting things to print, but they print as garbage -- at that point, you might have an incorrect MFRTYPMDL. Good Luck
