David: If an FTP proxy is involved, I'm not sure it matters whether the target is an OS/400 system or not -- I suppose that would depend on how the proxy handled the conversation. In any case, since the RCMD subcommand is being used, the target is _intended_ to be an OS/400 FTP server regardless of what it actually is. In that case, might as well just try the CRTL subcommand and forget RCMD for CRTLIB. CRTL is a server subcommand just like RCMD but specifically does a CRTLIB. _Any_ chance you're having a CCSID issue? Might try [RCMD] instead of [rcmd] just in case.
