Rob,

that is what the CTLCHAR parameter is for.

If you set that correctly, the control characters will also be saved.
eg CPYSPLF with CTLCHAR(*FCFC) uses an extra column to hold the control
char, so 132 column spooled file, would be saved to a 133 column flat
physical file.

when you want to recover the spooled file from the physical file, you use
OVRPRTF CTLCHAR(*FCFC), then do a CPYF from the physical file to a printer
file, eg QSYSPRT.

I recommend saving any spooled file settings that you need to recover about
the original spooled file in another fithat you can file that you can then
use on the restore and OVRPRTF.
