Another option is to have iPTF create FTP images, then FTP directly to the iSeries (sign on to the iSeries, the use it as a client). Unless the company has made this impossible, of course. It can take a long time, hence getting physical CDs is a better option sometimes. At home I have cable with up to 3Mbps (megabits) download and am spoiled - over 200kBps (kilobytes) speeds are just outrageous. That's 3-4 times what I get at work. But that speed is download only, so uploading to work is not feasible.

Roxio and other burning software can make a hard-drive image from any CD - the drive does not need to be a burner, it's only being read. That image can be entered into an image catalog. Just be sure with Roxio that you use the standard .iso format, not the proprietary .cif format.

Good luck

That's correct.

Marty, why couldn't you tell iPtf to put the PTF's on their FTP Site, then
download them to your PC, Move them to the IFS and add them to an image
catalog from there. Assuming you are on V5R2.

Thanks,

Mark

I wish we could put the CD in a PC and transfer its image to an image catalog and install from there. I need to install PTFs from a home office and iPTF has problems with my VPN and home firewall combination. I have been looking for a way that I could just order the PTFs on CD and install them from my PC, thus eliminating iPTF from the picture.
