It was significantly enhanced in V5R2. The reason this was done was so that customers could force any programs they restore (or install) to be translated with a trusted translator. This will remove any patches from the programs and force them to run in user state. Think of this as a way to automatically remove malware. This has been discussed before on Midrange-L.
