Yes, I can determine what IP address is assigned.
IP address assigned to the AS/400 is 205.243.79.226. When I attempt to add
the route (see below) I get an error " Associated interface for NEXTHOP
parameter value 205.243.79.226 not found. TCP/IP route not added."
Type choices, press Enter.
Route destination . . . . . . . > '192.152.100.10'
Subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . > *HOST
Type of service . . . . . . . . *NORMAL *MINDELAY, *MAXTHRPUT...
Next hop . . . . . . . . . . . . > '205.243.79.226'
Preferred binding interface . . *NONE
Maximum transmission unit . . . *IFC 576-16388, *IFC
Route metric . . . . . . . . . . 1 1-16
Route redistribution . . . . . . *NO *NO, *YES
Duplicate route priority . . . . 5 1-10
If a do a netstat *ifc it does show an interface with that IP address:
System:
Interface host name . . . . . . . . . . . . . :
Internet address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 205.243.79.226
Subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Network address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 205.243.79.226
Host address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *
Directed broadcast address . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Interface status . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Active
Change date/time . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 02/18/04 14:27:17
Line description . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : FT
Line type . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *PPP
Associated local interface . . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Type of service . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NORMAL
Maximum transmission unit . . . . . . . . . . : 1499
Automatic start . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NO
So unless I screwed something up, adding the route after connecting doesn't
seem to work.

Subject: RE: Use PPP without deleting default route to internet?
Is there any way to identify what your assigned IP address is
programmatically? If so, add the TCP Host Route 192.152.100.10 mask
255.255.255.255 assigned IP address after you connect, then delete the route
just prior to disconnecting. If you ever look at what service director does
with it dial up PPP you will see host routes being added and removed using
the PPP IP as the gateway.

One problem is that the IP address that the RAS server assigns to our AS/400
changes almost every time we dial in. The IP address of the RAS server is
always 205.243.79.225.
The IP address of the FTP server, which is really what I am trying to
connect to, is 192.152.100.10.
Any specific information as to how to set up the routes would be greatly
appreciated. Once I got past setting up the initial default route to the
internet I was lost. _______________________________________________
