I think you can add non-default route to 205.243.79.225 via 205.243.79.228 or a route to 205.243.79.0 subnet via 205.243.79.228. Default route is used if all specific routes do not apply. Our AS/400 (on V4R5) is connected to the internet through our network. The AS/400 is assigned an IP address of 10.0.0.40 and the router to the internet has an address of 10.0.0.254. There is a default route set up which reflects this and everything works fine. We now need to connect to our bank periodically throughout the day over a PPP dialup line to transfer files via FTP. The RAS server at the bank has an IP address of 205.243.79.225 and when the AS/400 connects to it, it (our AS/400) is assigned an IP address in the same subnet, for example 205.243.79.228. We connect up fine, however I cannot ping the RAS server, nor can I connect to the FTP server on the bank?s network. I can eliminate this problem by deleting my default route to the internet and checking the box ?add remote system as default route? in the routing section. This, of course, blocks the AS/400 from being able to access the internet while the PPP line is active, which is not really acceptable. I?ve read everything I can get my hands on about this with no success. Is there any way to accomplish this without shutting down access to the internet? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
