Hi Ken, as400 disk are not what they use to be (there are several treads on this list about this subject). I don't pay attention to life expectancy anymore, I would suggest you to protect your disks with some level of raid and keep going. Replacing the ones that crash when that happens. Remember to always keep a good backup handy.
