Hard disk longevity

        Hello group...
                I have a number of AS436 machines in our branches, that have 
been out there running since 1998, that's
                about six years now.
                I'm not exactly sute what the device numver is foe the 2GB 
drives in these boxes, but does anyone in the group
                now what the life expectancy is for these hard drives. Sorry I 
can't be more specific about the drive type.
                
                One crashed last year, and we spent almost a week to re-coup it.
