Like surfing on the edge of ethics is something new for Microsoft?
Are you sure they know that there is an edge there?
Can they define Ethics?

Subject: RE: Anyone ever had an iSeries stolen? (Don)

Hi Gang...
Me thinks a better tact would be to have IBM scrap any
serial number tracing scheme, and just let
                lots of AS400's be stolen.

Once stolen, the new 'owners', would then want to update
themselves , sign up on a maintenance contract,
and voila!..the AS400 is now more popular than ever.(The
insurance companies might object)

Five years ago, I read an article that indicated that MS was
prepared to lose something the the neighbourhood of
$500 mil annually, to stolen software, knowing full well
that it would expand the MS world, and those same
                individuals would eventually be back.
Sort of surfs on the boundaries of Ethics...
