Once stolen, the new 'owners', would then want to update themselves , sign up on a maintenance contract, and voila!..the AS400 is now more popular than ever.(The insurance companies might object) Five years ago, I read an article that indicated that MS was prepared to lose something the the neighbourhood of $500 mil annually, to stolen software, knowing full well that it would expand the MS world, and those same individuals would eventually be back.
