If you have Client Access you should be able to use that to pull data from
AS400 files right in to an Excel spreadsheet. Newer versions of Client
Access, aka iSeries Navigator/Access, have plugins right in to the office
suite that put buttons right on your toolbar in Excel.

A more crude, but still effective solution would be to FTP the files from
the AS400 and open them in Excel. You would probably need to define the
column breaks in Excel when you open it, but that is not an overly
complicated task, if you know the data.

HTH,
Brian

Subject: PC Data Access Tools

I am looking for a tool to extract data from different files on the 400
and display the data results in a spreadsheat like tool which has the
capability to do further analysis (sort, summarize, count, average, etc.)

Please forward recommendations. Thanks.
